Do you remember this great release of ETALABEL?
Krzysztof Orluk & Bai Tian – “Strcture Of”

You can still get the DigiPack in our BandCamp shop or in Polish shop

A fragment of a Vital Weekly review of the album:
[…] Delicate late night music of carefully constructed hiss, cracks and long form glitchy sounds, field recordings inside a train station and which works fine on an early morning (the computer clock says 7:35 – no kidding). Each artist created four pieces, but its hard to see a difference between their individual approaches. There is not a single moment around here which I thought was radically different from what I already know, but everything is executed with the greatest care and love of the microscopic detail of sound. It’s great music for this part of the year – winter!

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 4,900 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 8 years to get that many views.

Grzegorz Bojanek & Piotr Michałowski – the project started as an occasional improvised concert project. Since their first concert in Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw during WEF.LIVE.LAB in 2010, they have performed few times in several european countries and played during the Shanghai Electronic Music Week in 2011 and ChoP Festival 2012 (Shenzhen / Hong Kong). Both artist were satisfied with the improvisation results and they decided to record their first full length album which will be released on Ohm Resistance in 2012. The album is entitled “As Far As It Seems” and it contains the mixture of traditional Chinese instruments, guitars, DIY instruments of all kind and a lot of field recordings taken in some unusual places! These all sounds create some deep organic ambient soundscapes which will remain in the mind of the listener for a long time!

Now you can Pre-Order our album. It comes in a beautiful DigiPack with a black tray! The album is published by a famous New York label Ohm Resistance!

Listen to the latest track by Er Dao and Piotr Michałowski – two members of the ChoP Project who will perform together during the upcoming ChoP Festival in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Check out this amazing track which was recorded live during the Shanghai Electronic Music Week last year.

This year we will perform during the ChoP Festival in Shenzhen and Hong Kong!

Does anybody on this planet want to buy some good music from small labels, or are we sentenced to death? Do you like downloading only FREE music, either from legal or illegal resources?

Some of the small labels sell their music, but most of them have the recognisable artists. But still there are many labels like which goal is to promote young and unknown artists. If people don’t buy our albums, even if they are sold with huge discounts (see our summer sale and 50% discount), does that mean that they don’t need new artists and fresh music? I really cannot find the answer.

Since January ETALABEL has published 3 albums. 2 DigiPacks and one FREE EP (in August). And the most downloaded album is of course the FREE EP. And even if people get a discount password for our other stuff, they don’t use it! They try to find our music on services where people upload our stuff illegally. (I’ve already asked one of such services to delete our albums, cause somebody shared the music illegally). Does that mean that we must tour, and sell our music during the concerts? But everybody knows that not all artists have time to go on tour or they simply don’t play concerts for many reasons.

I must strongly agree with David Wenngren from library tapes. This is what he wrote:

Over the last few year I’ve read or heard stories about musicians committing suicide, labels closing down, distributors going bankrupt or not paying the labels what they owe them. All of this because a lot of people don’t pay for the music they are listening to and stealing from artists they claim to love.

I’ve heard many excuses for this. Some say that a lot of listeners will make it easier for bands to tour and sell merch. This might be true for some, but not everyone are able to tour.

The last couple of years I’ve seen a decline in CD sales, not only through the labels that I run, but also while touring. It’s so sad to see great labels stop and it would be even sadder to see artists quit making records because their fans don’t want to support them. I understand it might be tempting to download music for free, but please think twice before doing so.

And what do you think?

This has been planned for a long time. Finally today the weather was great so I decided to go to the Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport. The nice journey was 90km long. I am a “spotter” now cause I took some nice pictures of the landing planes. Amazing experience!

Finally my new album is here. You can buy the special edition of the “Remaining Sounds” CD with a set of nice postcards + the mp3 download.  The album was published by the California based label

You can listen to the album here and buy the BandCamp download, too.
